National Vehicle Certification Program Group-Greenest Company in America?

Firm may have the smallest carbon footprint in U.S.

Royal Oaks, CA, June 14, 2008:  The National Vehicle Certification Program Group has a unique claim to fame- what just may be the lowest carbon footprint in America. In an era of mass consumption and disposal, NVCP is a refreshing breath of clean air.  The National Vehicle Certification Program Group (NVCP) inspects and certifies recycled cars and trucks. They do it with no office, no paper, and no waste. “We make sure vehicles run properly, thereby keeping carbon emissions down”, said Ed Marko, VP of Virtual Motors, one of the founding firms of NVCP, “that makes us a “Green” company.”

We do all of our reporting online and paperless, we collect our data, register our warranties, and issue the certifications online. We do not even have an office to heat or cool.” In addition, NVCP does virtually all training online, and has local representation in each market, limiting the energy normally expended in air travel.

Perhaps the most important fact is that NVCP contributes in an often-overlooked, but immensely significant way- they help recycle cars and trucks. According to the U.S Department of Transportation, 7,667,000 new passenger vehicles were sold in 2005 alone1. In that same year, 9,989,000 vehicles were scrapped.2 According to the Argonne National Lab GREET model, it takes 100.391 million Btus to make the vehicle, batteries and fluids in an average 3,201-pound vehicle3, meaning recycling rather than scrapping those vehicles saves billions of Btus per year.

“We’re proud to have a small footprint in an industry much maligned for its negative environmental impact”, said Mr. Marko.

NVCP® or National Vehicle Certification Program is the only nationally recognized, independent vehicle certification program on the market today. Inspections are done free from the influence of the manufacturer or dealer, and the inspectors are not dealership employees. The focus is on providing an objective, thorough, and scientific analysis of the vehicle’s history, current condition, and future reliability. The program creates a national quality benchmark through standardization of the inspection process, ongoing training and innovation, and highly skilled, experienced inspectors.  For more information about the National Vehicle Certification Program, please contact Ed Marko at 831.308.0404 X 104, or by email at emarko@virtualmotors.com.  1United States Department of Transportation, Research and Innovative Technology Administration, Bureau of Transportation Statistics, 2008 National Transportation Statistics, Table 1-16, Retail New Passenger Car Sales2 Ibid, Table 4-54: Motor Vehicles Scrapped3http://www.transportation.anl.gov/software/GREET/
