Installation of SmartDesk

Once you’ve downloaded the SmartDesk installer, double-click on it to launch the SmartDesk Install Wizard. Follow the steps on the Install Wizard to complete the SmartDesk installation on your computer. Now it’s time to register and configure SmartDesk. The following is a quick-start list of steps to get your SmartDesk running.

New User Registration

Fill out the Membership Profile screen with a unique user name and a memorable password that is hard for others to guess. Fill out the dealership and contact information, then click next.

Select the Payment Plan you want your dealership to participate in., then click next The Commission Plan has greater benefits for dealers and is available at no cost.

Select at least three partners to use or offer to your customers, then click next. Partnership is the heart of VirtualMotors, and allows all involved parties to experience synergized benefits.

Select either credit card or debit account as your payment method, then click next. New user registration is now complete. Now it’s time to configure your SmartDesk software.

Configuration

Fill out any remaining fields in the Dealership Information form. Click next when you are ready.

Type the default values you wish to use for contracts and select your preferred options for deals. Click next when you are ready.

Select the default settings to be used for your vehicles, the options for your preferred book (Kelley Blue Book or NADA), and the options for import and export. Note that more export options are available by clicking Export Options. Click next when you are ready.

Select the method for generating stock numbers. Note that VirtualMotors has provided sample templates for your convenience. Click next when you are ready.

Select the contact, lead import, and optimizer defaults and options you wish to use for your customers. Click next when you are ready.

Type in the ID and account numbers you wish to use on contract and form printouts. Select letterhead and printout adjustment for form letter printouts, then click next when you are ready.

Select your preferred options to customize SmartDesk for printing, email, and other customizable items. Click next when you are ready.

Select the bank programs you wish to use from the list. Clicking the double-arrow (>>) button moves every program to the right list for usage; clicking the regular arrow (>) will move only a selected program. Click OK when you are ready.

Fill out the New User Setup form and click close. Congratulations, you’re ready to use SmartDesk.

Your selected settings can be changed whenever you need. Simply click on the Admin tab in the SmartDesk listbar and select Dealer Setup. Clicking the Open button launches a form that allows you to edit any of the settings and options selected upon initial configuration.
